Playing with ink - My attempt at Douglas Fairbanks and Billie Dove in THE BLACK PIRATE (1926)
I've been pretty swamped this month working on something I'm really excited about and can't talk about quite yet. I really hate not updating on a regular basis so now that I finished that project I figured I would do something for the blog before jumping on to the next thing. With this I was basically just trying to have some fun while practicing my inking a little bit - Pencil and Brush Pen on 11" x 14" Bristol
Here's a look at Page 01 of my current project for Gateway Comics' LEGENDS Issue #2
So awhile back Dan McDaid took a stab at Superman's new look on his blog in an attempt to try and get a feel for it and after picking up a copy of Action Comics #1 from DC's New 52 I thought I would take a quick pass at it to see if I couldn't get my head wrapped around it a little better. .. Unlike Dan, I still don't get it. I don't know, maybe I did it wrong.
"I am the one who knocks!" Colors by the incredibly talented Tom Feister of G.I Joe, Avengers: The Initiative, Witchblade and much, much more!
A little piece featuring my two favorite miscreants, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman as played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Breaking Bad is in my opinion the best show on television. I could have done something more interesting with the composition but time is at a premium so I just went with the likeness.

That last 3D installment of Resident Evil was pretty much unwatchable but I am a fan of the Alice character... I'm usually a sucker for anything with zombies in it.
Here's a look at a random panel from a new project that I'm working on with Bradley Potts - Gateway Comics
This piece is based off of a scene from Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Bride was a seminal film in that it inspired the hairstyles of several American icons, Horschach from Welcome Back Kotter, Norman and Harry Osborn as well as the weird neighbor guy from Seinfeld.
Here's my take on Yankees Ace, CC Sabathia - this will probably be the last one I do in this Baseball series for a little while at least but it's been alot of fun for me to have two of my passions sort of crossover. This piece is available for purchase on my etsy shop - http://www.etsy.com/shop/mainstage

A shout to all my fellow Buffy and Angel fans - I've been wanting to draw this guy for a long time but I just never seemed to get around to it... until today. Skip only appeared in something like 3 or 4 episodes of Angel but I loved it every time that he showed up so he absolutely needed to make an appearance here ;)

Here's a look at a batch of cards that I did as my contribution to the CBLDF Liberty Trading Cards featuring some characters that I'd never drawn before and one in particular that I've drawn quite a bit ;) Top to bottom: Usagi Yojimbo, Grendel, Witchblade, Savage Dragon and my main dude Dirge. Stop by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund's site at http://cbldf.org/ and get all the details on how you can contribute to a great organization!
Here's a BATTLE ANGEL piece I did as a break in-between pages based off of some amazing costuming by Riddle - Blue Pencil, Pentel Brush Pen and Ink Wash w/ a little Photoshop tweaking to play with the color. This image is available for purchase on my etsy shop at - http://www.etsy.com/shop/mainstage
One of the drawbacks that I've found to inking myself is that over time I feel like my Pencils have gotten a little lazy at times. More often than not, if I'm not 100 % happy with them I just push forward and fix it in the Inks. Here's a section of a page I re-drew because I didn't feel like Inks alone were going to get me to where I wanted to be.
Here’s a look at another piece colored up by my buddy Adrian Johnson. This will also be available as a print at the Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con – JAN 29 & 30. Swing by table 1009 and pick one up from me.
Here's a look at the final on the She-Hulk Print which will be offered as a show exclusive at Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con available at the Headhunta' Studios Booth, if you'll be attending the show stop by and pick it up!My good friend and SCORN collaborrator Adrian Johnson threw the colors down on this one and really, I couldn't be happier. There's nothing better than working with someone who 'gets you'. With no notes from me at all he accomplished exactly the look and feel that I wanted and just made it his own without resorting to Photoshop gimmicks or compromising my linework. Cool Beans!!

Here's a She-Hulk piece I worked up as print for the New Orleans Comic Con JAN 29 & 30 - I'll be at the Headhunta' Studios booth along with my buddy Chris Walker and guys like Koi Turnbull, Kevin Stokes, Sideeq Saafir and Jeff Balke. Whipping up Sketches, Commissions, and Prints will be available so if you're in the area, come on by and check us out!
Here's a piece I did as a birthday present for my friend Steve Caruth, I had no idea what to draw and his Wife Denise said he liked Gecko's and the first thing that came to mind was the thing from the insurance commercials and The Gecko Brothers in From Dusk Til' Dawn - Red Col-Erase pencil, Pentel Brush Pen, Deleter White and gray wash on Bristol.
